its christmas, the time of year when everything falls apart and after this many goes you’d think i’d be used to it. it’s deathly quiet and there is a kind of “no weather” state beyond the double glazing; today was grey and sort of mild for this time of year, no rain, no sun, no ice or snow.
despite the blankness, everywhere i look there is distraction. the oven door is open, the cold crumbling remnants of an apple turnover on a shelf inside. the washing up hasn’t occurred. today i opened up boxes and drawers and set out to do some things but didn’t complete any of them. i took the front wheel off my bicycle and the disfunctional velcro straps off my cycling shoes. i tried to make sense of the sewing box. i watched elizabeth warren on the internet.
